Celebrating an esteemed artist

It's a great honour to showcase one of Kaylene Whiskey's masterpieces at Jacksons on George.

We are delighted to announce our collaboration with Kaylene Whiskey and Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery for a commissioned artwork that will adorn the Public Bar at Jacksons on George.

Kaylene Whiskey is an esteemed contemporary Aboriginal Australian artist, acclaimed for winning the prestigious 2018 Sir John Sulman Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. She has also been recognised as a finalist for both the 2020 and 2023 Archibald Prizes.

Kaylene’s captivating vision for the artwork draws inspiration from Botticelli’s renowned masterpiece, “Birth of Venus,” reimagined through her distinctive style featuring kungka kunpu (strong women), which has become her artistic signature. Placing a proud and resilient woman of colour at the heart of the painting, the piece will be complemented by elements that pay homage to Kaylene’s Anangu culture and her affinity for pop culture.
